what is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage is slow and done with little or no lubrication to engage the deeper structures of the muscle and fascia. It is generally more intense than therapeutic massage and is effective in relieving chronically tense and contracted areas. It shouldn’t hurt however, and because of its slow and focused feel it can also be deeply relaxing.
Deep Tissue Massage may also be combined with trigger point release work and advice for self-massage and stretching for longer-term effects. It may form the whole of a massage treatment or can be incorporated into a therapeutic massage session as appropriate.
It can help with:
Relieving chronically tense muscles.
Promoting deep relaxation.
